U.S. TOUR KICKS OFF NOVEMBER 12th

L.S. Dunes: guitarist Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance), guitarist Travis Stever (Coheed & Cambria), vocalist Anthony Green (Circa Survive), bassist Tim Payne (Thursday), and drummer Tucker Rule (Thursday) have shared “2022,” the blistering and dramatic new track off their upcoming debut album, PAST LIVES, due November 11th, 2022 via Fantasy Records. Watch the track’s psycho-animated video HERE. Pre-Order Past Lives: HERE.

Anthony Green on “2022”:

“I wrote 2022 when I was struggling to communicate the pain that I was in during the pandemic. I survived an overdose the previous year and was feeling like I would never be free of the obsession to get high, or just get out of my own skin and that I was only going to continue to hurt everyone I loved. It was a cop-out and easier for me to write a song rather than get honest and real with the people in my life–cry for help in a way. If there’s a positive take away, it’s that it’s never a burden to the people you love to share your feelings no matter how dark or painful it might be.”

“2022” follows the late August release of the band’s first single “Permanent Rebellion,” which drew praise from Stereogum, NME, Consequence, Ones to Watch, Brooklyn Vegan, Revolver, Alternative Press, and Loudwire among many others.

L.S. Dunes made their highly anticipated debut performance this past weekend at Chicago’s RIOT FEST. Playing to a packed, early afternoon crowd, the band ran through several songs from the new album, a taste of the energetic, cathartic shows fans will experience on their upcoming tour.

The impetus for the trippy “2022” video has its own story. At the conclusion of the video shoot for “Permanent Rebellion,” Frank Iero, jet-lagged from a sold-out stadium show in Germany the night before with his other band, noticed that the shadow reflections playing on the white walls of the studio made the band look like a “hippy band that rips” and the concept for “2022” visual was born. The band shot footage with the esteemed My Good Eye Visuals (Clutch, GWAR, Killswitch Engage) and then sent it to director Robby Staebler (drummer extraordinaire for the mighty All Them Witches) with one piece of direction only: We want it to feel like “the song that saved your life, while you are on LSD… in the desert.”

After the band’s next show at Sacramento’s AFTERSHOCK FESTIVAL on October 8th, L.S. Dunes will hit the road for a U.S. tour this November — all dates are below.

EARLY PRAISE FOR L.S. DUNES:

“Fiery… nonstop, dynamic fun” — Revolver

“Catchy, punky post-hardcore” — Brooklyn Vegan

“These guys all know what they are doing!” — Stereogum

“This is 100% real and no, you are not dreaming” — Ones To Watch

“Brimming with an urgency and plenty of energy” — Loudwire

ABOUT L.S. DUNES:

L.S. DUNES super-charge their heavy anthems with punk energy into a sound unlike anything that has come before it. From the gripping, theatrical opener “2022,” and the crunchy, frenetic earworm “Like Forever,” to the pummeling, expansive “Permanent Rebellion,” and the disarming album closer, “Sleep Cult,” Past Lives is an electrifying and emotional ride.

Past Lives was produced by Will Yip (Turnstile, Circa Survive, Quicksand) and recorded at his Studio 4 Recording in Philadelphia, PA. Going deep on issues of fearlessness, dependency, nonconformity, and impermanence, writing for the album was a collaborative effort.

After the shock of the pandemic shutdown, the close friends and mutual admirers urgently realized that “tomorrow” is not promised. “We never knew if we would ever get to play these songs together; in fact, none of us lifelong musicians really knew if we’d ever be able to play music for a live audience ever again,” Iero recounts.

“‘Permanent Rebellion’ is about taking back what is rightfully yours.” Rule adds, “We wanted to do something where you can hear all our bands in it and yet, not have it sound like any one in particular. Our roots are punk rock and hardcore, and the vibe is hope for all the lost souls.”

Original, aggressive, and intense, L.S. DUNES is the next great leap in rock’s grand evolution.
