FOUND A PICTURE OF YOU EP DUE OCTOBER 16TH VIA FANTASY RECORDS
Singer-songwriter and guitarist Tyler Ramsey today shared his deeply affectionate take on The Innocence Mission’s “Tomorrow On The Runway” – listen HERE. The song, featuring harmony vocals by singer-songwriter Thad Cockrell, appears on Ramsey’s newly announced Found A Picture Of You EP out October 16th, 2020 via Fantasy Records. The 6-song EP is an unusual collection of five carefully chosen cover songs (all intriguingly written and/or made famous by female artists) and one re-made original. Along with the announcement last week Ramsey also shared lead track, the Pretenders’ classic, “Back On The Chain Gang” which Guitar Player hailed as “brilliantly unique”. Also out today is an intimate performance video for “Tomorrow On The Runway” shot outside of Ramsey’s home in Asheville, NC – watch it HERE.

Tyler Ramsey on his connection to The Innocence Mission: “Of the songs on this EP, this is one I’ve been playing the longest. I fell in love with the Innocence Mission the first time I heard them. Karen Peris’ voice goes directly into your heart. When I started recording this song, I remembered that my friend Thad Cockrell was the one who introduced me to the Innocence Mission; he gave me a copy of their album Befriended and it became extremely influential for me. I was able to get Thad to come and sing on it with me; I am a huge fan of his songs and his voice carries so much emotion.”
Tyler’s singular fingerstyle picking helps transform these covers into something completely new. The track list includes the Innocence Mission’s “Tomorrow on the Runway”; Jules Shear’s “All Through the Night,” with background vocals from My Morning Jacket’s Carl Broemel (Cyndi Lauper memorably struck gold with it); “Shake Sugaree,” the hill-country gem written by fellow Carolinian Elizabeth Cotten, with Billy Alletzhauser on electric guitar and supplying harmony vocals alongside Tyler’s daughter Sylvie Opal Ramsey; and “When You Go,” written by Jennie Lowe Stearns, with Rayna Gellert on fiddle and Broemel on pedal steel and backing vocals. The EP is rounded out with an updated version of Tyler’s “1000 Black Birds,” which first appeared on his 2011 album, The Valley Wind, and features background vocals from Avi Kaplan and Jeremy and Jonathan Lister.
Found A Picture Of You is Tyler’s first release since For The Morning, his debut for Fantasy in 2019, and was produced by Ramsey and recorded & mixed by (former Band of Horses bassist) Bill Reynolds at Fleetwood Shack in Nashville, TN.
