Single “I Was Wrong” Debuts On Triple A Radio Chart
Headline April U.S. Tour Dates Include NYC Show at Music Hall of Williamsburg on April 23rd
NYC’s BAILEN – fraternal twins Daniel (vocals/bass/synth/guitar), David (vocals/drums), and younger sister Julia Bailen (vocals/guitar) – today share “Rose Leaves” a new track from their upcoming John Congleton (St. Vincent, The War on Drugs) produced debut LP, Thrilled To Be Here, out April 26th on Fantasy Records. Previously the band released “Your Love Is All I Know” and lead track “I Was Wrong,” which debuted this week at #36 on the Triple A Radio chart.
The intimate and revealing ballad features the group’s expressive vocals and a gorgeous string arrangement performed by their parents’ chamber group. The band says, “We finished ‘Rose Leaves’ in Daniel’s flat, when he was living in London, and first performed it at Ronnie Scott’s. Originally the song was written for a friend who was going through a divorce—the song evolved into being about the lingering impression of a love that has ended; it never really leaves you, it just changes.” Listen HERE or simply hit play on the clip below.
BAILEN – who sold-out NYC’s Bowery Ballroom in late January prior to releasing any music – will also make their national TV debut on March 30th performing on CBS This Morning: Saturday Sessions. The quickly rising trio have earned early acclaim from Rolling Stone, Stereogum, and The Wild Honey Pie, among others, and made their SXSW debut last week performing at events for Netflix/Collide, ACL Live, Rachael Ray’s Feedback House, and more. Watch a new acoustic session recorded in Austin for MPR’s The Current HERE and revisit their recent their Paste Studios session HERE. BAILEN’s April U.S. tour dates include a headline show at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on the 23rd. See below for a full itinerary of upcoming dates and more dates will soon be announced.
BAILEN’s otherworldly musicality springs from a very deep well, in fact, it’s in their DNA. Raised in New York by their classically trained parents, Daniel, David and Julia immersed themselves in the family’s diverse record collection. The group’s highly collaborative songs are formed by three very different individuals who were all inspired by literature and a love of language. The resulting songcraft of Thrilled To Be Here is rooted in the young group’s preternatural dexterity, insight and lyrical bite.
The group emerged by cultivating a passionate following via their live show, guesstimating over 300 shows to date, and touring and collaborating with such artists as The Lone Bellow, Joseph, Oh Wonder, among others.
