AVI KAPLAN TRAVELS THROUGH TIME AND SPACE IN NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR “IT KNOWS ME”

Today, singer-songwriter Avi Kaplan shared the vibrant new music video for his song “It Knows Me”. The colorful clip, directed by noted Turkish director Mertcan Mertbilek (Santana, Ray Charles, Ravi Shankar, Elvis Costello), depicts Avi on a meditative walk through time and space as the mysteries of the universe unfold around him.

“It Knows Me” appears on the rising artist’s acclaimed debut 7-track EP, I’ll Get By produced by Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, First Aid Kit) out now via Fantasy Records. Most recently, Avi shared his moving version of Bill Withers classic “Lean On Me” with a portion of proceeds donated to the Equal Justice Initiative.

Avi on the inspiration behind the video: “‘It Knows Me’ speaks to how we deal with the darkness that is in all of us. The video is a fantastical representation of what might go on in one’s mind when they are dealing with those kinds of emotions. It was such a beautiful experience to collaborate with Mertcan and see him bring the concept to fruition. It has always been a dream of mine to have an animated video and he truly went above and beyond what I imagined it could be.”
