Hometown Christmas Show and New 2022 Tour Dates Announced

Today rising Nebraska-based folk artist Andrea von Kampen releases two new songs for the holidays, a brand-new original composition entitled “Old Fashioned Holiday” and Irving Berlin’s beloved “I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm.” Produced by Andrea and her brother David von Kampen, these tracks represent her latest holiday music offerings following last year’s A Midwest Christmas double single release. Her new song “Old Fashioned Holiday,” beautifully underscored by strings, features an enchanting, playful melody that instantly invokes the whimsey and magic of holidays past. Additionally, her take on “I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm,” previously recorded by greats such as Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Ella Fitzgerald with Louis Armstrong, reveals a new side to her artistry as her gorgeous vocals glide seamlessly over warm, jazzy piano.

“I wrote ‘Old Fashioned Holiday’ while thinking about a wintry day that feels magical and timeless,” Andrea shared. “I wanted the music to sound like the song you hear when you open a music box as a kid.” Listen to/share both tracks HERE

Andrea will play a special, hometown Christmas show on December 17th at the Rococo Theater in Lincoln, NE and also announced new US tour dates opening for electrofolk duo Tall Heights that kick off January 12th, 2022, in Northampton, MA. Earlier this year von Kampen released her new album That Spell via Fantasy Records featuring standout tracks “Take Back Thy Gift,”  “Don’t Talk (Put Your Head on My Shoulder),” (Beach Boys cover) and “Water Flowing Downward” which was highlighted by Bob Boilen on his ‘All Songs Considered’ podcast – listen HERE.

Named as one of the top ten entries in NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest, Andrea von Kampen burst onto the national stage and netted a new and growing fanbase. Since then, she’s released EP’s, singles, a self-released debut LP and found great success with film and television placements due to her highly cinematic songwriting and striking, one-of-kind vocal ability.

The Nebraska-raised singer-songwriter is a formidable talent with her deeply felt folk-indebted sound and inquisitive, empathetic lyrics. Andrea excels at connecting the dots between personal experience and the world at large. Her journey so far has been a life immersed by music. The youngest of four children raised in a musical family, Andrea started playing guitar at an early age. “Music was just what we did,” she remembers. On her new album That Spell, with production and string arrangements provided by her brother David, she employs a deep love of literature and a refined sense of compositional sophistication to create one of the year’s most essential new recordings.
