ACCLAIMED ALBUM TEARING AT THE SEAMS DEBUTS AT #11 ON THE BILLBOARD 200
“You Worry Me” #1 at Triple A Radio for Seventh Consecutive Week
It’s been an eventful release week for Nathaniel Rateliff & The Nights Sweats. Last Monday, the band returned to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform their hit single, “You Worry Me.” The visit included a “Cover Room” session that featured an acoustic rendition of Bruce Springsteen’s “Atlantic City.” The band then traveled to Austin for a series of high profile performances at SXSW that included The Pandora Stage, special appearances at Willie Nelson’s Luck Reunion and mesmerizing Friday night headlining performance for 15,000 fans at the city’s outdoor venue, Auditorium Shores, all in support of the group’s acclaimed new album, Tearing at the Seams, out now on Stax Records. The record is available for purchase HERE. Watch the “You Worry Me” official video HERE.
This week, Tearing at the Seams entered the Billboard 200 chart at #11. The album also debuted at #6 on their Top Current Album Sales chart, at #4 on the Top Current Rock chart and #1 on the Top Americana/Folk chart. Additionally, “You Worry Me” is #1 on the Triple A charts for the seventh consecutive week and #1 for the eighth straight week on the Americana Singles chart. The album has also reached #1 on the Americana Albums chart.
The album is receiving widespread critical praise:
“Rateliff’s restless throwback sound feels like it’s moving toward real revelations.” –Rolling Stone
“The soul-R&B-rock collective…ranks as one of the most thrilling arrivals of recent years, its reputation stoked considerably by the group’s incendiary live shows.” — Los Angeles Times
“The hottest vintage-sounding soul octet in the country.” — Billboard
“The 12-track swells with soulful brass, infectious grooves, and Rateliff’s unmistakable warble.” — Entertainment Weekly
“Songs to make the feet itch to dance.” ★★★★ — The Guardian
“Tearing at the Seams is potent enough to return Rateliff & The Night Sweats to the spotlight to stay, not as the unexpected beneficiaries of a novelty hit, but as one of Americana’s brightest new stars.” — Newsday
“One of the most impressive musical transformations of recent years has been Nathaniel Rateliff’s shift from bruised singer-songwriter to bruising soul belter.”
★★★★ — London Evening Standard
“If anything, Tearing at the Seams more accurately captures the feel of Rateliff’s stirring live performances. There’s a looseness and sense of fun here, perhaps because for the first time the songs were written in the company of his band.” ★★★★ — Q Magazine
“The brawny beats, sultry horns, and funky organ might spark fond memories of the ‘60s glory days of Stax and other classic R&B labels, but there’s nothing retro or reverent about Rateliff’s electrifying performance.” — Mother Jones
Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats are: Rateliff (vocals, guitar), Joseph Pope III (bass), Patrick Meese (drums), Luke Mossman (guitar), Mark Shusterman (keys), Andreas Wild (saxophone), Scott Frock (trumpet) and Jeff Dazey (saxophone).
