Nashville based singer-songwriter, Avi Kaplan released his highly anticipated EP, I’ll Get By as well as premiering his latest music video for the title track with Billboard today. Kaplan is currently participating in a live Q&A, hosted via his YouTube channel, chatting and answering questions from his 680k subscribers. Check it out HERE.

In the video we see Kaplan walking through a forest collecting stones and putting them in a sack. The symbolism speaks to our everyday struggles and burdens we carry with us and that no matter what, one will overcome these and get by.

Discussing about the message behind the video with Billboard, Kaplan stated, QUOTE

Released on Fantasy Records, the EP has garnered critical attention from tastemaker media, from Paste to American Songwriter who described Kaplan’s nuanced vocal as “rich, tender and abounding.

On I’ll Get By, Kaplan shares personal stories about love, anxiety, loss and his time growing up in California. Exploring a range of sounds from soul to bluegrass, these songs are threaded together by the search for spiritual redemption, and cast with acoustic guitar, pedal steel, swirling organ and deep groove percussion that beautifully complement Kaplan’s haunting, other worldly vocal ability. A compelling introduction from an inspiring singer songwriter, I’ll Get By pays homage to some of his early influences such as Bill Withers, John Denver and Simon and Garfunkel, whilst offering a new contemporary twist on 60s heritage influenced folk music.

With the exception of the lead track, “Change on the Rise,” (produced by Paul Moak) I’ll Get By was helmed by producer Mike Mogis, well known for his work with Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst and First Aid Kit among others. On I’ll Get By, Kaplan, the former Pentatonix star, raised just 40 minutes from Sequoia National Park in the rolling hills of central California, has rediscovered his musical roots and delved deeper into the music he’s always loved.

Following a sold-out tour of Europe, Kaplan will be venturing out on a solo U.S. spring tour kicking off this Sunday with special guests Paper Wings. Kaplan will also be returning to Europe this November by popular demand – see full dates below.
