Fast rising Nashville based singer-songwriter, Avi Kaplan released a new song, “Sweet Adeline Pt. 2,” which premiered with The Tennessean today.

The second preview track from his forthcoming hotly anticipated EP It Knows Me, set to release on February 28th via Fantasy Records. Kaplan has already garnered critical attention for his new solo project from tastemaker media from Paste to American Songwriter who described Kaplan’s nuanced vocal as “rich, tender and abounding.

“Sweet Adeline Pt. 2” with haunting arpeggiating acoustic guitar, bright pedal steel and luscious harmonies provide the perfect soundtrack for Kaplan’s poignant vocals, sharing his reflections on a former relationship.

Kaplan stated, “This song is a remorseful reflection of a past relationship. Often times I’m much better sharing my heart with music than just with words. I wanted the production to embody the sadness of a failed relationship but keep it lighthearted enough to still capture the feeling of looking back on the beautiful times we had with reverence.”

Talking to The Tennessean, Kaplan also shared that music has been a therapeutic influence on his challenges with anxiety. Kaplan added, “Anxiety is something I’ve struggled with since I was a kid. One of the only things that truly helped it subside was music. It’s always been a dream of mine to help people the way music helped me. To hopefully soothe souls like music soothed mine.”

With the exception of lead track, “Change on the Rise,” (produced by Paul Moak) I’ll Get By was helmed by producer Mike Mogis, well known for his work with Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst and First Aid Kit among others. On I’ll Get By, Kaplan, the former Pentatonix star, raised just 40 minutes from Sequoia National Park in the rolling hills of central California, rediscovered his musical roots and delved deeper into the music he’s always loved. Exploring a range of sounds from soul to bluegrass, these songs are threaded together by the search for spiritual redemption, and cast with acoustic guitar, pedal steel, swirling organ and deep groove percussion that beautifully complement Avi’s haunting, other worldly vocal ability.

Following sold-out tour of Europe, Kaplan will be venturing out on a solo U.S. spring tour with special guests Paper Wings – see full dates below.
